Alphas continued their fairy tale run-in, while Ranieri witnessed the end of their 5 match winning streak. Teknon and Raptors didn’t fare well in what was a miserable outing for both sides.

Now to the news in full.

Game 1:

ALPHAS FC                           VS                      RAINERI FC

2                                                                             1

Much had been talked about in the build up to this game with Raineri on their best ever record-breaking run of 5 straight wins, and Alphas reminiscent of their 4-0 thrashing of Raineri at TPL6. The game was played at an electric pace but for all of the action, it wasn’t until the second half before Alphas broke the deadlock with a cool finish. Raineri responded immediately with the equaliser before a quick interchange of pass by the Alphas attack split the Raineri defence for the winning goal.

Game 2:

TOKIO FC                           VS                      GUNS FC

2                                                                             2

It appeared like another bad day for the new boys when Guns were awarded a penalty kick early in the first half which was scored by Ebonie. Moments later, Tokio found a way back into the game via Ayo from a goal mouth scramble after Kola’s penalty was saved by the Guns goalie.
Midway into the second half, a piercing through ball found Kola whose deft first touch took the ball away from the Guns defence, before calmly slotting past the stranded goalie to give Tokio the lead. Moments later, a well-taken freekick from Ebonie found the net as the game ended all square.

Game 3:

LOTUS                           VS                      RAPTORS

3                                                                             0

Kofo the Raptors team manager saw it all fall apart

New-boys Lotus were able to pick themselves up from their opening day defeat to Alphas with a dominant display against Raptors, star player Fryo pulling all the strings from midfield. Raptors too put up a decent fight but in the end, the game was settled by a goal from Fryo and a further two from Tunesh, one of them a penalty given for a foul on Fryo.

Game 4:

TEKNON                        VS                           PACERS

0                                                                          2

Pacers picked up from where they left off from Game Day 1 with another masterclass against Teknon, thrilling the crowd with intricate play and beautifully crafted moves as they found the tiny little pockets of space they were afforded by their opponents. In the end, a goal from Wasiu (top goal scorer at TPL7) and a penalty for Kossy gave them the 3 points and sealed a second consecutive clean sheet.

After the hostilities it was time to go home, regroup and look forward to Game Day 3 on the 15th of October.
